Putnam Town Board unanimously adopts data center moratorium

NY PUTNAM — Putnam's Town Board unanimously approves a one-year moratorium on data center applications. Supervisor Darlene Kerr cited water and energy consumption concerns, noting the town's proximity to Lake Champlain and Lake George makes it attractive for large-scale development. The local law fills a regulatory gap left by the state's moratorium on facilities 50 megawatts or larger.
The Board completed a State Environmental Quality Review Act review and issued a Negative Declaration before voting unanimously on Proposed Local Law #4.
