Putnam Board tables flood damage prevention law pending state review

NY PUTNAM — Putnam Board defers flood damage prevention law, appoints interim Planning Board chair. Supervisor Darlene Kerr explained that FEMA updates to statewide flood maps require municipal adoption to maintain federal flood insurance eligibility for Lake George and Lake Champlain residents. Town Attorney Robert Winn advised postponing adoption until the Department of Environmental Conservation completes its review; the matter will return in June.
The board also tabled further discussion of contested proposals to abolish the Planning Board and repeal Site Plan Review protections after extensive resident testimony. Wayne Busby was unanimously appointed Acting Chairman of the Planning Board.
