Supervisor Darlene Kerr and the board unanimously banned commercial lithium-ion battery energy storage facilities after the Adirondack Park Agency approved a facility near Northampton capable of powering 4,000 households on January 22, citing explosion and fire risks. The town's primarily volunteer-based fire department lacks specialized response resources for battery incidents.
The board also unanimously adopted updated floodplain maps required by July 21 to maintain National Flood Insurance Program eligibility.
